April 12, 2022 … Fully God - Fully Man

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 102

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...    Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Paul Sheely singing  Fully God, Fully Man … powerfully singing of how our Lord, the Song of God, became human to rescue us from our sin on the cross as fully God.

==============

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Hebrews 2:17  [NLT] …

17 Therefore, it was necessary for Him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then He could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.

… Jesus became human so that His sacrifice, as the Lamb of God, could FOREVER take away the sins of mankind

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Hebrews 2:10-18 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… God’s word, thru the Author of Hebrews, teaches why God became flesh to save mankind.      ===============

Reference Passagee: … John 1:1, 1:14 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… God’s word became human so that we could see and follow Messiah as the God-Man.

Reference Passage: … Romans 8:3 [NLT] …

So God did what the law could not do. He sent His own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

… Paul explains to Christians why God sent His Son, Jesus, to be a perfect HUMAN sacrifice for our sin debt.

Reference Passage: … Philippians 2:6-11 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… Paul, explains God’s plan to send His Son, Who would give up His majesty and glory to become human - yet retaining His divinity - so that He, the Son of God, now fully man, could die on a cross to save us from our sin.

Reference Passage: … Colossians 1:19-20 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… Paul teaches fellow Christians about the full humanity and divinity of Christ as Lord and Messiah (i.e., Master).

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Kirsten Holmberg … AT THIS LINK  tells of tells of a father, named Derek, who had a large red tattoo burned on his stomach and chest so that his son, who was embarrassed and self-conscious because of a large birthmark on his body, would be able to see his father’s tattoo and would be able to take off his shirt and be like his dad.

And the ODB illustration is a good one to show what God did in sending His Son, … Who, being fully God, would set aside His glory and majesty, to become fully man, … so that His sacrifice on the cross as the Lamb of God, would fully satisfy God’s Law as was explained in God’s word (see Scriptures above).

Our Lord, King Jesus, was fully God and fully man (see linked song) so that we, like the boy in the ODB story, could identify with Him and follow Him as our Heavenly Father gave up His Son to save us from our sin.  And so, as we move thru this Holy Week, looking ahead to celebrate the glory of Easter, may we all raise our Hosannas and praise our Lord for becoming the Lamb of God - fully man, yet fully God, on that cross to save us from our sins.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for becoming fully man … to become Your Lamb of God, … shedding His blood and dying to become sin for us and save us for eternity.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to offer up our praises during this Holy Week, to celebrate what You did for us on the cross.       Amen
