Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 106

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from Jeremy and Adrienne Camp singing  Death Has No Power … poignantly singing. about Jesus’ victory over death by dying on the cross and then being resurrected for believers to see His power over death and sin.

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Luke 23:49 [NLT] …

49 But Jesus’ friends, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance watching.

… There were loyal followers of Jesus who were there on Calvary, witnesses to the gruesome crucifixion and death of Jesus, … probably in horror and grief, … wishing it were not so, not realizing what would take place in three days.

Reference Passage: … Revelation 21:4 [NLT] …

He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

… God’s promise in revealing to John that Jesus will eliminate all pain and sorrow in heaven.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Tim Gustafson … AT THIS LINK writes of a man eulogizing a friend at the friend’s funeral, saying, “I wanted somehow to make it not so,”

And I think most, if not all of us, have felt like that, … grieving the loss of a friend or family member, especially if the deceased was very young or had done a lot for our lives.  And that’s what those who were at the cross must’ve felt like, … (see Highlight passage) … seeing Jesus die so ignominiously, and having felt that He was their Messiah who would one day be their King.

But those friends of Jesus, those women and Jesus’ beloved friend John, didn’t realize what was about to unfold in three days, … that the broken and dead body of their friend Jesus would be raised from the dead to fulfill the prophesies of old … that the Messiah would defeat death and bring any and all who would believe on Him to be with Him, their Messiah, in glory.

Fellow Christian reader, we may be down and and feeling broken as we come upon what will be celebrated tomorrow, … celebrating the hope of life, … knowing - thru faith - that Jesus was resurrected to show mankind that He truly was (AND IS) our Messiah; and how His defeat of death was our promise of everlasting life.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … giving me the hope of eternal life with You thru my faith in Your death and resurrection.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to anticipate the coming life we will have with You, King Jesus, because You rose from the dead to give us that hope.       Amen
