Sept 6, 2020 … Saved By Grace

Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 250

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from an anonymous group singing … Saved By Grace … powerfully singing of how are only saved by God’s grace thru our belief in the finished work of Christ on the cross.

Hard work to impress God?

==============
Highlight Passage : … Galatians 3:3 [ESV] ...   3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?
… We can’t be foolish enough to believe, once we’re saved, that more of our own works can make our salvation any more perfect or complete.
=============
Highlight Passage [Context] : … Galatians 3:1-6 [ESV] ... USE THIS LINK
… Paul tried to made it clear to fellow Christians that it was Christ’s work alone on the cross which saved those who believed in His work and not our own work which saves us.
=============

Reference Passage : … Romans 3:28 [ESV] … 28 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
… God, thru Paul, declaring clearly that it’s not any works of the law which saves us.

Reference Passage : … Ephesians 2:8-10 [ESV] … 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
… Jesus did it all !!! And only by our faith in His grace are we saved and sanctified onto good works.

Reference Passage : … Titus 3:4-7 [ESV] … USE THIS LINK
… It’s not our righteous works which save us … only God’s completed work on the cross can save those who believe in Him as LORD and Savior … enough to confess and repent of our sins.

Reference Passage : … 1John 1:7-9 [ESV] … USE THIS LINK
… Truth! … We can’t cleanse ourselves of sin by doing more hard work; … no, … only by confessing and repenting of our sin can the finished work of Christ cleanse us of our sin.

My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, David H Roper, AT THIS LINK testifies that he occasionally caught himself thinking that he could please God more or acquire the Lord’s favor more by just working harder and being cleansed by these righteous works (see photo). … NOT!!!

No, … God’s word is VERY CLEAR on that, isn’t it? The Apostle Paul wrote about this truth over and over, didn’t he (see Pauline scriptures above)? The question is … “Do we believe him?”

Because if we do, we’ll be doing that hard work, not to be saved or sanctified. No, … we’ll be doing it to confess and/or repent of our sins and be cleansed by Christ’s finished work on the cross. We’ll be doing that hard work humbly because we love our Lord, … not to earn His favor. Jesus did that all of what He did because He loved us; and nothing we can do can make Him love us any more.

So, let’s live for Him today. Let’s love for Him today. And … let’s know that what He did for us … DID IT ALL !!!

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for doing all You did for all of us.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray, Lord, that all reading here will join me today, to honor what You did for us on the cross, by doing what we do to glorify You … and only You! … Amen
