October 1, 2021 … My Heavenly Name …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 274

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in a song and lyrics from the group Kutless singing … Identity … powerfully singing of how we, as disciples of Christ, need to seek our identity in Him rather than the world.

A new name awaits us in heaven ...

Highlight Passage:  Revelation 2:17 [NLT] …

17 “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in heaven. And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it.

Jesus writes of the new name He will give to all those who come to the wedding of the Lamb as victorious.

Reference Passage: … Proverbs 22:1  [NLT] …

1 Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold..

… God, thru Solomon, teaches of the value of a good name …

Reference Passage: … Isaiah 62:1-5  [NLT] … USE THIS LINK

… God renames His chosen people so that all will see and know that they are the betrothed of the Bridegroom … the Messiah.

Reference Passage: … Revelation 19:6-10  [NLT] … USE THIS LINK

… God reveals, thru John, what it will be like for God’s chosen Bride (His Church) when we come to join King Jesus, as our Bridegroom, having prepared ourselves for the wedding feast of the Lamb of God.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Mike Wittmer, AT THIS LINK   …writes of how it is said that we have three names in this life - the one our parents give us (our legal name), the name others give us (our reputation), and the name we give ourselves by the way we live (our character).  But as the ODB author also writes, … there is a fourth name to which all Christians should aspire and that is the name Jesus will give His Bride, the victorious disciples in His church, when we come to the wedding feast of the Lamb (see Rev. 19:6-10)

And that is the name spoken about by Jesus when He wrote, thru John, to the Church in Pergamum in the highlight passage.  And it is the name all Christians should be striving, thru our identity in Christ, to receive as Christ’s disciples when we finally come to be with our Messiah, … King Jesus, … Who will give us HIS CHOSEN NAME in heaven.  And it is to that name all Christians, as Christ’s Bride, should joyfully look forward to receiving as we attempt to identify with our Lord as we live our lives in preparation for the wedding feast of the Lamb of God.

Oh how I pray all reading here await your new name as much as do I.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for the new name I am building thru the way I identify with You and the way I live in preparation for Your wedding feast in heaven.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to living out our lives awaiting the name You, Lord, will give us when we join You at Your wedding feast.    Amen
