October 14, 2021 … God’s Light to Our Path …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 287

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in a song and lyrics from Steve Green and chorus of children singing … Your Word Is a Light … poignantly singing of how God’s eternal word becomes a light to our path in life.

A Guidebook for life ...

==============

Highlight Passage: Romans 6:19 [NLT] …

19 Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living so that you will become holy.

Paul, to fellow Christians, on becoming a slave to God’s truth as our guidebook in life. =============

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Romans 6:16-23 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

Reference Passage: … Psalm 119:9-11. 105 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK

… God’s word becomes our guide in life to avoid sin … i.e., a light to our path.

Reference Passage: … Proverbs 3:5-6 [NLT] …

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.

… God, thru Solomon, shows us the depend on God’s guidance in life.

Reference Passage: … John 14:6 [NLT] …

[Jesus] … “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

… Following Jesus as THE WAY in life is the only way to go.

Reference Passage: … Romans 12:1-2 [NLT] …

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Being transformed into a living sacrifice by the renewing of our minds thru God’s word.

Reference Passage: … 2Timothy 3:15-17 [NLT] …

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

… God’s word is His way to show us how to live by forever following His truth

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Marvin Williams, AT THIS LINK … began writing and publishing a daily “blog” in 2016 with the intent to help fellow Christians get on track by following God’s path in life. And I empathize, having published a blog daily since 2008 with much the same goal. In fact this blog I’m writing and publishing online today is taken from the devotional Our Daily Bread and is intended to help me and other Christians follow God’s guidebook in life (i.e., God’s word).

And the Apostle Paul had much the same goal, inspired and led by God’s Spirit, to help fellow Christians follow God’s path in life by writing the letter to the Christians in Rome (see photo) which we Christians have used since the 1st century … to do what Steve Green sings and the Scriptures above proclaim … i.e., to follow God’s word as a guidebook and a light to our path in life. And that is my prayer for all reading this blog.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving us Your eternal word as my (our) guidebook for life.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to know and follow Your word - i.e., our Bible - today. … Amen
