October 13, 2021 … God’s Eternal Truth …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 286

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ... Please take the time to take in a song and lyrics from Kristyn Getty singing … Speak O Lord … poignantly singing of how God’s eternal word shapes the lives of those who follow it.

God's word cannot - and will not - be destroyed ...

==============

Highlight Passage: Jeremiah 32:28 [NLT] …

28 “Get another scroll, and write everything again just as you did on the scroll King Jehoiakim burned.

God orders Jeremiah to restore the scroll of truth which a wicked king of Judah had burned. =============

Highlight Passage [Context]: … Jeremiah 36:27-32 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… Jeremiah, restores the scroll burned by king Jehoiakim of Judah.

==============

Reference Passage: … Isaiah 40:8 [NLT] …

The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”

… God promises, thru Isaiah, that God’s word - His truth - cannot be destroyed.

Reference Passage: … Matthew 5:18 [NLT] …

18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.

… Jesus promises that God’s truth will be fulfilled and cannot be destroyed.

Reference Passage: … Matthew 24:35 [NLT] …

35 Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.

… Jesus prophesies about the future of all mankind and especially for those who believe and surrender to follow God’s truth.

Reference Passage: … 2Timothy 3:16-17 [NLT] …

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

 God’s word is His way to show us how to live by forever following His truth.

Reference Passage: … 1Peter 1:23 [NLT] …

23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

 Peter promises true believers that those who surrender to follow God’s eternal truth - i.e., HIs word - will live forever with Him.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread< author, Tim Gustafson, AT THIS LINK … tells of the historical 19th century story of a manuscript of Thomas Carlisle being burned; but, thru his diligence the manuscript was restored to become the monumental history entitled The French Revolution.

But even more important to mankind’s history - and temporal future - is the reality illustrated by Jeremiah (see highlight passage) when God ordered him to restore a scroll of God’s word to His people which the then King of Judah, Jehoiakim, had burned. And this biblical story illustrates what is sung in the linked song and conveyed in God’s own word in the Scriptures above. And that truth is that NOTHING or NO ONE can destroy God’s word in our God-breathed Bible, which was covered by the history of the Old Testament and fulfilled in the life and times of Christ in the New Testament.

God’s word is eternal! It cannot and will not be destroyed by man (see photo). And when we live by it and follow it, we are promised to be led by God into eternity to be with Him forever. And I pray that we are doing just that today … and tomorrow … and forevermore!!

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, …for giving us Your eternal word to follow.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to know and live by Your eternal truth in Your word - our Bible - today. … Amen
