October 22, 2021 … Serving Others …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 295

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in a song and lyrics from the group Casting Crowns singing … If We Are the Body … powerfully singing of how We, as Christians, are called to be the Body off Christ, serving others as He has served us.

"Chelsea's Charity" - Serving others with her art ...

==============

Highlight Passage:  1Peter 4:10  [NLT] …

10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

  We born-again Christians have at least one God-given gift and Peter charges us to use our gift(s) to serve others as Christ has served us.

Highlight Passage [Context]: …  1Peter 4:8-11 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… Peter exhorts fellow Christians (that’s us too!) to use the gift(s) God has given us to serve others just as Christ did for all mankind.

==========

Reference Passage: … Mark 9:35, 10:45  [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK

… Just as Jesus gave His life to serve others, so we, too, should be the servant of others.

Reference Passage: … John 13:12-14  [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK

… Jesus demonstrates for His inner 12 disciples - and for us - what service to others looks like as He washed the feet of His followers.

Reference Passage: … Galatians 5:13 [NLT] …

13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

… Paul exhorts fellow Christians (and us) to use the freedom we find in our relationship with Christ to serve others as He has served us.

Reference Passage: … Philippians 2:3-5 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK ....

  Paul challenges fellow Christians to take on the attitude of our Lord and to serve others before we serve our selfish desires.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Xochitl Dixon, AT THIS LINK    … illustrated what real Christian service is all about by writing about a young 10 year old girl who used here God-given gifts/talents to serve others by developing an international charity called Chelsea’s Charity - see photo which now gives art kits to kids all over the world to help develop their God-give artistic talents and to share the joy of Christ with others.

And as we fellow Christians take in the linked song and meditate on the Scriptures above, I pray that we’re all asking ourselves - as disciples of Christ - how we can use the gift(s) and talents God has given us to serve others - just as young Chelsea did .  And all we’re doing is to serve others like Jesus came and served us by even dying for us.

I’ll be looking to see whom I might serve today.  How about you?

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … giving me gifts of teaching and encouragement to reach other to serve others today.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to use the talents and gifts you have given us today to serve others.    … Amen
