February 3, 2022 … Starting Over … AGAIN …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 34

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in a song and lyrics from Chris Tomlin singing … I Will Rise … singing of how God gives us a new life in Christ, which is a “do-over” for the days we are surrendered to His Lordship where we can rise above the old self to the new self we have in Christ.

==============

Highlight Passage: …  2Corinthians 5:16-17 [NLT] …

16 So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

… Paul shows that in Christ we have a whole new existence, not the old which is judged on our sinfulness but by Christ residing in those who’ve surrendered in faith to the Lordship of Christ.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Leslie Koh AT THIS LINK  relates that the Chinese new year brings some traditions that should be helpful for all Christians, … such as putting on new clothes, cleaning house, and paying off old debts, … all of which should be symbolic - for the Christian - of the new start we can have ANYTIME we surrender more fully to the Lordship of Christ.

Each year on Dec. 31st, my computer reminds me to read and meditate on a poem by Woodrow Kroll entitled “Start Over.” …  GO TO THIS LINK .  The poem reminds me of the DO-OVER God gives any born-again Christian … anytime  … we remember and activate God’s promises from His word found in the Scriptures above.

So, if we believe God’s word, then why don’t we activate a Chinese New Year and Christian commitment to START OVER … TODAY … with a new commitment to surrender to Christ’s Lordship and follow Him more rigorously than ever.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving me another “Do-Over” day today … and another tomorrow when I’m in surrender to follow You.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to get going AGAIN today by following You, Lord, in the newness we have in Christ.     … Amen
