Reference Passage: … Mark 14:36 [ESV] ...

36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.”

Jesus’ surrender to the will of His Heavenly Father was complete, … just as our’s should be to Him … since our Lord and The Father are one.

23 And He said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. …”

Jesus makes it clear to His followers what it takes to surrender and be His “disciple.”

Reference Passage: … John 15:1-7 [ESV] … USE THIS LINK

As Jesus’ disciples we can - and will - only be fruitful when/if we surrender to abide in Christ.

Reference Passage: … James 4:10 [ESV] …

10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

James shows us that God will only lift us up when we’re willing to humble ourselves before the Lord.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Amy Boucher Pye AT THIS LINK writes about the artist, Judson Van DeVenter (1855–1939), who wrote the hymn, I Surrender All, having surrendered to follow God’s call to the mission field, giving up a potential career in the arts.

And the ODB story illustrates how Jesus’ call to follow Him, as it was with His original 12 disciples, means that His disciples must often be willing to deny self gratification (see Luke 9:23) to be fruitful in following the Lord’s way in life (see John 15:1-7).

At least eleven of the 12 Disciples, chosen by Jesus to surrender and follow Him, finally, after the  cross and the resurrection, found out how much it cost to follow our Lord.  And I pray that all reading here have accepted that cost and are willing to do whatever it takes to surrender to Jesus’ call to follow Him … wherever He leads.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for showing us the way to surrender and follow You.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray that all reading here will join me, … to give up self gratification to follow our Savior.    … Amen
