Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 7

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from a military trumpeter playing … Taps …  poignantly playing a reminder at military funerals that “God is nigh.”

Highlight Passage:   Numbers 10:10 [ESV] ...

10 On the day of your gladness also, and at your appointed feasts and at the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings. They shall be a reminder of you before your God: I am the Lord your God.”

God commands the Levites to blow the trumpets at all festival celebrations to remind the people of the presence of God.

… God calls on the Levites to blow the trumpets (i.e., shofar) at all festivals and before any battle to announce the eternal presence of God.

Reference Passage: … Numbers 29:1 [ESV] …

“On the first day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work. It is a day for you to blow the trumpets, …

God, thru Moses, calls His people to blow the trumpets on a special day during the year to honor God’s presence and His covenant with His people.

Reference Passage: … Joel 2:1 [ESV] …

Blow a trumpet in Zion; sound an alarm on my holy mountain!  Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming; it is near, …

God, thru the Prophet Joel, calls on the trumpet to be sounded to remind the people that the Lord is coming to redeem His people from their sins …

Reference Passage: … Matthew 24:28-31  [ESV] … USE THIS LINK …

Jesus announces that the Son of Man will come to gather His church with the sounding of angels playing trumpets.

Reference Passage: … 1Thessalonians 4:16 [ESV] …

16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

God, thru the Apostle Paul, tells of Jesus coming to gather His church at the sound of the angelic trumpets.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Lisa M Samra, AT THIS LINK  uses the playing of taps at military funerals [use the song link above] to illustrate the modern use of trumpets to remind God’s people of the Lord’s presence, even in times of loss or trial.  Note that the last phrase of each verse of “Taps” ends with “God is nigh!”

This was certainly a tradition established by God (see photo and Old Testament verses above) to remind God’s people of His presence and His promise (i.e., covenant) to send a Messiah to redeem His people from their sin.  And in the New Testament (see passages above from Jesus and Paul), God’s word reminds us that the Lord will come again one day, with angelic trumpeting, to call all who have been saved by Him to be with Him forever.

I pray that all reading here with me today are part of that company, and will join me to be called up at the sounding of God’s trumpets.

It could be today !!! Are you ready?!!

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for Your promise to sound Your angelic trumpets to call me home, … maybe today or one day soon.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... I pray that all reading here will join me, to prepare for the sounding of heavenly trumpets one day … to call all of us who are born-again to be with You, Lord, forever.    … Amen
