August 1, 2021 … Reaching Out to Help …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 213

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from the group Casting Crowns singing  If We Are the Body… Powerfully singing of how the Body of Christ (that’s us!) should be reaching out to help those in need.

Reaching Out To Help ...

==============

<Highlight Passage:   Jeremiah 26:24  [NIV] …

24 Nevertheless, Ahikam son of Shaphan stood up for Jeremiah and persuaded the court not to turn him over to the mob to be killed.

Two of God’s priestly line, stand up for Jeremiah; and God intervenes to spare the weeping Prophet.

Reference Passage: … Proverbs 19:17 [NLT] …

If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord — and He will repay you!

… God, thru Solomon, shows that reach out to help others is giving to God.

Reference Passage: … Ephesians 4:31-32 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… Paul shows fellow Christians that we must be willing - like Christ was in dying for us - to reach out and help those in need.

Reference Passage: … Philippians 2:3-5 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

…. thru Paul, exhorts His body, (i.e., us Christians) to be like Christ and humbly reach out to help others.

Reference Passage: … 1Peter 1:22 [NLT] …

22 You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters.  Love each other deeply with all your heart.

… Peter exhorts born-again believers to show love and compassion for one another just as Christ did for us.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Mike Wittmer, AT THIS LINK  … relates the true story of attorney Shelley Thibodeau, who reached out successfully, where other lawyers had failed, to help free Clifford Williams, who had been unjustly on “death row” for 42 years.

And then the ODB author showed how the weeping Prophet was saved by two Godly priests who risked their own lives to stand up for Jeremiah, who was saved by their risky help (see highlight passage).  And that biblical illustration, along with the other Scriptures above, show God’s call on us all to be willing to reach out and stand for or help others when we see them in need of help.

God’s word above, along with the linked song by the group, Casting Crowns, certainly has convicted me to be more aware of others in need and to help them, especially when I have the ability to do so.   What about you?  Is there something more we, as Christ’s body, could do, even today, to help someone in need.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for calling ME to do more to help others in need.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … reach out to help others whom You, Lord, bring into our lives who need our help. … Amen
