August 25, 2021 … A Reason To Love …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 237

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...  Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from the Maranatha Singers singing  … The Family Prayer Songr … poignantly singing of how family love should be a major Christian priority.

Sharing God's love in the family ...

==============

Highlight Passage:  1Timothy 5:3-4 [NLT] …

Take care of any widow who has no one else to care for her. But if she has children or grandchildren, their first responsibility is to show godliness at home and repay their parents by taking care of them. This is something that pleases God.

God, thru Paul, charges Christians to show Godly love to others, but especially to those within the family of God as one would within one’s own human family.

Reference Passage: … Joshua 24:15 [NLT] …

15 But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”

… God, thru Joshua, charges God’s people to choose whom they will serve with God’s devotional and love, … our Lord or false Gods, and Joshua commits that he and his family will serve the Lord.

Reference Passage: … Exodus 20:12 [NLT] …

12 Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. …

… God, thru Moses, as part of God’s 10 Commandments charges God’s people to honor God by showing honor and love within the family by children showing love to their parents.

Reference Passage: … 1Corinthians 13:4-8 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK  ...

… God, thru Paul, defines the essence of Godly love.

Reference Passage: … 1John 4:19 [NLT] …

19 We love each other because He loved us first.

… God, thru John, shows that we can show Christlike love to others in God’s family because He, … Jesus,…  first showed His love to those in the family of God.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, John Blasé, AT THIS LINK   … tells of seeing the love of a daughter for her mother as they sat across the aisle in an airplane and later as the daughter openly, and lovingly, hugged her mother (see photo).   According to the ODB author, it was a display of the kind of Godly love which God demands of Christians to show for others, especially within the family of God (see Exodus 20:12).

Certainly God’s word (see Scriptures above) demands that we Christians openly show God’s love to others, especially in our human family, … and within the “family of God.”  But unfortunately that kind of love is sorely lacking, if not absent, in many families these days.  And this is certainly the case in families where the love of our Lord is not expressed or shared.

And oh how I pray today that all reading here have experienced God’s love, especially within your family; but if not, most certainly in your church family. So, if you need a good and loving family hug today, I pray that you can either go get that loving hug from your mother or your father or your brother or your sister (if they are living); … but if not, … mask up of necessary in these Covid days … and go to a Christian brother or sister and get a loving hug from someone in the family of God.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for bringing me from a loving human family into Your family where I can get a loving hug any time I need Your love.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to share Your love with someone in my family or Yours today.    … Amen
