My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Lisa M Samra, AT THIS LINK … writes of half-marathon runner Ryan Hall, who had experienced many defeats in his competitive running; but from those defeats, he picked himself up and came back to ultimately set the American Record in his event; and he did so, according to His faith in the truth of Proverbs 24:16, God’s truth that our Lord will always be there with His strength to lift us up when we are down in life.

We all know that there are going to be times in life when we get knocked down, defeated, or weakened. However, those of us who know and follow King Jesus in life should know, from the truth of the Scriptures above, … that any and every time we’re knocked down, we can rise again because of the power Jesus gives us from the time He was felled and then rose again to show us that his power always defeats the forces that will try to take us down. And just as our Lord rose again, as sung in the linked song; … and because He has over come the world (see Jesus’ words in John 16:33; we can be like the ancient Phoenix (see photo) and rise up again to follow our Lord.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving me the power of Your enabling grace to rise again when I’m down, just as I am now facing intense physical pain. And even tho it has me down now, I know - that one day - I will rise again from this because You will lead me home to a risen, restored … and pain-free … life.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to express our thanks for Your empowering grace, Lord, which gives us the strength to rise again from any of our falls in life. … Amen
