June 13, 2022 … God’s Tenderness …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 164

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from the group Graham Kendrick with Nicki Rogers singing … O Lord Your Tenderness … poignantly singing of how God’s tenderness and his mercy and love are there for us when we need it.

==============

Highlight Passage [Context]: …  1Kings 19:6 [NLT] …

He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again.

… God’s Angel mercifully provides for Elijah’s needs in a time of depression and desperation.

Highlight Passage [Context]: … 1Kings 19:4-10, 15-18 [NLT] … USE THIS LINK …

… God’s tender mercy and love attends to Eliza in his weariness and despair.                               ===============

Reference Passage: …  Isaiah 41:10 [NLT] …

10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.  Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.  I will strengthen and help you.  I will hold you up with My righteous right hand.

… God promises, thru His prophet, that our Lord will be there to strengthen us in our times of weakness.

Reference Passage: … Lamentations 3:22-23 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… God’s faithful and tender mercies never end; … they are new every morning for the believer.

Reference Passage: … 2Corinthians 1:8-11 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… Paul testifies to fellow Christians of God’s tender care in times of trouble and danger.

Reference Passage: …  Hebrews 4:16 [NLT] …

16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

… The Author of Hebrews teaches of God’s promise to tenderly be there for believers in times of trouble.

Reference Passage: …  James 5:11 [NLT] …

11 We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.

… James taught of God’s mercy by referring to the grace offered to Job in restoring him from all his trials and troubles.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Sheridan Voysey … AT THIS LINK  told of a business man in despair who ordered a book on suicide from the library.  But the notification of the book’s availability was sent to his mother by mistake, who, learning of her son’s despair, tenderly was available to help her son in his time of need.

And this was a very human example of love and tenderness which is a theme played out in many lives in our Bible, … like the one in the highlight passage, where Elijah wanted to die and God sends His Angel of mercy to provide and care for God’s prophet.  And James in the NT, refers to how God cared for Job by restoring him after Job had gone thru all the trials God had allow Satan to visit on this poor faithful servant of God.

It’s possible that some - maybe many - of my readers may be going thru times of trial or trouble, causing anguish or even despair.  But if we’ve all taken in the linked song and believed the Scriptures above, I pray that we realize that our God is ALWAYS there to lift us up and provide His mercy and enabling grace when we need His love.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … being so tender and kind to me when I’ve needed Your grace in the past.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to reach out and receive the love and grace that You, Lord, ALWAYS have for us in our times of trial.  … Amen
