June 23, 2022 … Making Radical Changes …

Berry Patch Devotions in 2021 - Day 174

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   take the time to take in song and lyrics from Matthew West singing … The Motions …powerfully singing of how we Christians must follow God’s Spirit and let our hearts break thru the motions of life to follow the Lord instead of our personal and worldly desires.

Following the Light of God's truth ...

==============

Highlight Passage [Context]: …  2Kings :23:3 [NLT] …

The king took his place of authority beside the pillar and renewed the covenant in the Lord’s presence. He pledged to obey the Lord by keeping all His commands, laws, and decrees with all his heart and soul. In this way, he confirmed all the terms of the covenant that were written in the scroll, and all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.

… God’s people followed King Josiah’s commitment to follow God’s law in making radical changes in their lives.

Reference Passage: … Deuteronomy 28:1 [NLT] …

Reference Passage: …  Isaiah 55:11 [NLT] …

11 It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

… God promises His people, thru Isaiah, that following His word will lead to fruitfulness in our lives.

Reference Passage: …  John 14:15, 26 [NLT] …  USE THIS LINK …

… Jesus commands His Disciples in the Upper Room to obey all His commands and to follow the teaching of His Spirit.

Reference Passage: …  Matthew 5:19 [NLT] …

19 So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

… Jesus shows the result of willingly and faithfully following God’s commandments from His word.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Tim Gustafson … AT THIS LINK  relates a story of a friend from Ghana coming into their home and noticing an old African artifact on the family wall with a small charm, used by tribal leaders in Ghana as a magic charm to ward off evil influences.  And recognizing the need to rid their home of any form of ungodly idolatry the author’s family got rid of the so-called “magic charm.”

And the ODB author then referred to how the very young King Josiah was led to hear of God’s Book of the Law which had been discovered by the Priests in the Temple of God at the time of Josiah becoming King.  And hearing God’s word [see highlight passages], Josiah made radical changes in the worship practices of God’s people in Israel to surrender and come into line with God’s truth.

So, if my readers have taken in the linked song and meditated on the Scriptures above, we, who declare to be disciples of Christ, must ask ourselves what radical changes we need to make to follow God’s word more closely in eliminating selfish or worldly influences from our lives.  Well, I’m duly convicted; and I’ll leave you to do your own personal inventory of surrender to follow God’s word, … seeking out God’s Spirit to help us today.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh, Abba Father, thank You, King Jesus, … for giving me the truth from Your word to be my guiding light to follow You today.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, …  to make any radical changes we need to make, Lord, to follow the light of Your truth today.  … Amen
