Mar 1, 2021 … Following God’s Word

Berry Patch Devotions in 2020 - Day 60

Devotional Song: ... GO TO THIS LINK ...   Please take the time to take in song and lyrics from the group Hillsong United singing … Your Word  poignantly singing of how God has given us His perfect word to guide us in our walk thru this life in order to follow His will.

==============

Highlight Passage:  Joshua 1:8 [ESV] ...

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

… God gives Joshua (and us) the formula for success in carrying out God’s will.

Highlight Passage [Context]: …  Joshua 1:1-9 [ESV] …  USE THIS LINK …

… God encourages Joshua to be courageous in carrying out the task of leading God’s people into the Promised Land.

==============

Reference Passage: … Psalm 119:9-11 [ESV] … USE THIS LINK …

  God’s prescription for conquering sin - by hiding God’s word in our hearts.

Reference Passage: …Romans 15:4 [ESV] …

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

  Thru Paul we see that the Scriptures were given to us to give us direction and hope in life.

Reference Passage: … 2Timothy 3:16-17[ESV] …

16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

… God, thru Paul, teaches Timothy (and us) that God’s word gives us His power to walk in Godliness and righteousness.

Reference Passage: … Hebrews 4:12 [ESV] …

12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

  God to HIs people exposes the power of God’s word to give us His discernment in this life.

My Devotional JournalToday's Our Daily Bread author, Patricia Raybon, AT THIS LINK    tells of the persistence of an African Bishop, taking 3 decades to get The Bible translated into the native language of the Bishop’s people and the positive effects it had in changing their culture toward Godly living.

And that’s not surprising when one knows the Bible and sees how it becomes our perfect “GPS” (God’s Positioning System) in guiding us thru this life.  That’s what all of the scriptures above declare; and it’s certainly what I discovered when I began burying God’s truth in my heart thru disciplined scripture memory (see Josh 1:8, Ps 119:11 and 2Tim 3:16-17).

And I pray today that all reading here have discovered the power of God’s word to transform our lives toward Godliness (see Rom 15:5 and Hebrews 4:12); .. and to give us the hope we have in living for Christ.

My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for giving us Your world to guide us in following Your will.

My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to use God’s word as our perfect “GPS” in life.   … Amen
