My Devotional Journal: Today's Our Daily Bread author, Elisa Morgan, AT THIS LINK … writes of the research done years ago by Dr. Jerry Motto which showed that follow-up “caring letters” written to patients with depression who had been released from hospitals, having attempted suicide, reduced the rate of recurrence by over 50%.
And God’s word shows that pattern of encouragement as well with so many of the books of the Bible being love letters of encouragement or exhortation from God’s Spirit thru authors like John, Paul, Peter, and James, who wrote letters to depressed and down-hearted Christians, many of whom were being persecuted severely by Nero and other Romans Emperors.
Perhaps there are those reading here with me today who are feeling down because of the past viral year and all of the upheaval in the world or maybe those who are even being persecuted for their faith in Christ.
Well, I pray that all would take Dr. Berry’s prescription [that’s from me!]; and begin each day by letting God’s love letter (His Holy Word), set us on the right track for our day, … our year, … and our life, … by reading of God’s love for all of us [see Scriptures above], which I hear in the linked song which many of us may have sung to our kids to make them feel loved.
Yes, my friend, Jesus does love us … for the Bible tells us so.
My THANKFULNESS: ... Oh Abba Father, ... thank You, Lord, … for sharing Your love for me every day thru Your word.
My Prayer Today: Oh Abba Father, ... King Jesus, ... . I pray that all reading here will join me, … to take in God’s love thru His word again today. … Amen
